Qlik Partners with AusCycling to Drive Innovation Through Data

AusCycling is the National Sporting Organisation responsible for the development, facilitation, and growth of all forms of cycling in Australia

September 27, 2022

SydneyQlik® today announced it will collaborate with AusCycling in a bid to move the organisation towards a data-driven culture.

AusCycling is the National Sporting Organisation responsible for the development, facilitation, and growth of all forms of cycling in Australia. Currently the organisation represents over 54,000 members and 400 cycling clubs across BMX Racing, BMX Freestyle, Cyclo-Cross, Esports, Mountain Bike, Para-Cycling, Road, Track and Lifestyle riders throughout the country.

Qlik Cloud®’s analytics capabilities will eliminate membership data access and reporting issues by bringing together all the organisation’s membership data for analysis into one platform. This effort will improve efficiencies and operations towards AusCycling’s vision of making all forms of cycling accessible to everyone and unlocking the full potential of the sport across the country.

“Qlik has developed a simple and robust membership reporting platform that will allow us to gain better insight into our customer data, drive innovation and add a new layer of process for building new and personalised member products,” said Agostino Giramondo, Executive General Manager of AusCycling. “The partnership will kickstart and streamline operations to create a data-driven culture within our organisation, ultimately to better understand all our members, clubs and stakeholders.”

“The potential for AusCycling, using Qlik’s capabilities, is endless. Having a full view of member behaviour will allow AusCycling to develop personalised solutions to ensure they have a richer and more meaningful relationship with members and fans,” said Paul Leahy, ANZ Country Manager at Qlik.

The partnership comes at a time when the world of cycling is looking towards data and analytics to optimise and modernise the sport. Qlik recently partnered with Team Qhubeka as their Official Analytics Partner for the 2022/23 race season. Team Qhubeka is leveraging Qlik’s data and analytics capabilities to optimise all aspects of the cycling team, from logistics all the way to performance – using a wealth of data sourced from the whole team.

Data and analytics are transforming both athlete performance and the fan experience. In collaboration with Decision Inc. Australia, Qlik has leveraged AutoML technology and advanced analytics to predict the results of the upcoming UCI Road World Championships.

“We are witnessing how big data analytics can be a game-changer in the sports industry, especially within the cycling sector. We are thrilled to deepen our capabilities and broaden our reach to help this industry innovate and optimise their operations with readily accessible data. We look forward to working with AusCycling further in creating a more sustainable and data-literate community,” added Leahy.

To support the development of its use case, AusCycling also relied on Decision Inc. Australia, a Qlik partner.
